Since I handed out a bunch of cards today with this web page on it, I ought to post stuff. Here's some stuff.
Great seeing Keef Knight and Stephen Bob-The-Angry-Flower Notley again. Keef gave me the "Finish writing your novel, FANBOY!" T-shirt I asked for with his Kickstarter project. I usually wear an XL, this was an L that runs large. It looks great, if it is gets small, it'll inspire me to lose summa my pot belly.
How many books did I buy? Cue Rain Man: "There's lots. Lots and lots." I did not go to San Diego Comic Con this year (whimper, cry, sob!), and I am working and getting paid, so I felt I could spend a little. So much indie delight!!!! Bought comic books, graphic novels, several anthologies, even a text book or two. I'll be happily reading for a while! More inspiration to get my own stories out there, but nuts, I did this blog post instead of story writing.
I handed cards to many artists for future reference. My feet got pretty sore. Think I bought about all I'll buy, but there is still tomorrow.
A little teaching moment! Keef made me sputter slightly with sudden knowledge. I told him how professional his YouTube short looked (so click, watch, then come back). It will actually get me to watch Antique Road Show.! We walked to get a coffee whilst I told him about my short story about to be published (this is like a kid Evel Knievel he hopped his bike over a toy fire truck, but Keef was nice to listen). Anyhow, I told him stuff you'll see in previous blog entires, and I told him that I bet he spent $$$ on his vid, it really looks pro, and he hasta complete with Hollywood (he lives in Culver City). He said the Antique stuff has a privileged feel to it, and blacks could not own anything till the 60's anyhow. Now THAT is food for thought! Got my mental machinery grinding later on (like, hey, Keef's RIGHT, again!). Hmm, I wonder if those three old dressers I got from my dear departed mommy are worth anything? Not like those comic books filling my closet. Oh, Keef will be on Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell on Oct 22 (my B-day and the announcement of the new iPas, so there is competition).
Saw a couple cosplayers, both nice looking younger ladies. One lady was dressed in a supersuit and cape for a superheroine novel, the other was dressed in skimpy lacy undies and a pasted-on bra thingy and I have done so many comic cons that the undies lady seemed almost old hat. I must be getting jaded or old or both.
Did not see Justin Hall, whom I say hi to because he is such a ray-of-sunshine type of guy. Will likely say hi tomorrow. (Oof, getting hard to type, tired.) Said hi to Paige Braddock (Jane's World) and Shannon Wheeler (Too Much Coffee Man) and Batton Lash (Wolf and Byrd, Supernatural Law). Hmm, just looked up Batton on Wiki, I did not know he was inspired by Steve Ditko: a good reason to have Batton Lash do a cover for a Holly short story. Another one: the story has my barber Lash in it. How could I lose if I have two Lashes? But I am getting ahead of myself, I have to edit that story a little more, it needs to lose a little fat. Like me.
I'd list the books I bought, but I am too darned tired. Gonna hit the sack soon. I'll post again later. Like more indie artist/writers.
P.S. I tried an iPad keyboard/cover I saw online, but I have to admit the keyboard did not feel great. Too bad, that had the landscape/portrait rotating feature I cannot do without. Okay, time to post. Need to go-duh-bed since I take care of my cousin's doggies and head to APE again tomorrow.
